Excuses

She's not responsible for your disgrace,
But certainly she didn't help you. Wait,
Watch what she does to stifle the debate,
See if she makes it sink without a trace
Or lets it rise to bite you in the face.
You sing, "But when I came to man's estate,
With a hey ho" — ah, you're a fool, so great
A fool, who only thinks he knows his place.

The lady cannot save you, will not try,
Will only make excuses for the muck
Thrown at you, something looking like bad luck,
But it was never luck. You'll see her cry,
But those was never real tears in her eye,
Real feelings. If she tries to kiss you, duck.
