Three Cheers

I never really checked
Which rumour wasn't true;
I left that up to you
And your massive intellect.
These rumours intersect
Without too much ado
Between the petting zoo
And those trucks that got wrecked.

We laughed — for days, for weeks —
And then we cried for years,
Pretending that our tears
Made bold artistic streaks.
You puckered up your cheeks
And I gave you three cheers.
